TNT Innight wins three-year extension with Renault Germany

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Renault Germany has renewed its express shipping contract with overnight carrier TNT Innight for three more years.

The motor manufacturer has had its time-critical spare parts delivered by TNT Innight for the past three years, and under the new deal TNT will continue to supply around 750 Renault and Dacia dealers across Germany.

Distribution of parts including windshields, bodywork and engine components is managed out of a 25,000 square meter warehouse in Brühl, just south of Cologne.

Parts ordered before 4pm can be delivered before the start of the next working day, with around 4,000 to 5,000 items leaving the Brühl warehouse each day.

Innight also processes returns for Renault Germany from its dealerships.

Kai Flower, head of logistics, accessories and recycling at Renault Germany, said: “We have developed a close and trusting relationship with Innight, and based on the success of the past three years we look forward to further partnership.”

TNT Innight said one of the secrets of success for its Renault Germany contract was that its IT systems were fully integrated with those of Renault, streamlining operations and ensuring full visibility on the supply chain.

Both Renault employees and dealers collecting items for return can access the system at any point in the shipping process.

Steffen Beuerle, TNT Innight’s European key account manager for the automotive sector, said: “We have developed a logistics concept that’s bespoke to the special requirements of Renault in the distribution and returns management included within the after sales segment.

“A big advantage for us is the integration of our IT systems – it ensures the greatest possible visibility for all flows of goods, which creates the prerequisites to act and and react quickly and flexibly.”

TNT Innight operates national and international overnight business-to-business delivery services from 21 locations in Germany, with a fleet of around 1,600 vehicles. The company handles around 14.5m shipments a year, with core customer sectors including the automotive, high tech, life sciences, agriculture and engineering industries.

The company has been part of global integrator TNT Express since 2007.
