The next blue Ocean: BigCommerce's partnership with Mercado Libre is pushing independent sellers into Latin America

Mercado Libre's first partnership with BigCommerce opens the Latin American market to independent Sellers of BigCommerce.


BigCommerce has announced a partnership with Mercado Libre, the leading e-commerce platform in Latin America. The partnership will enable independent sellers of BigCommerce to sell to Mercado Libre's nearly 133 million Latin American consumers. It also marks Mercado Libre's first partnership with a major north American e-commerce platform, underscoring the company's ambitions to enter the U.S. market.

In the future, independent sellers on BigCommerce's platform will be able to easily apply to sell products in Latin America via Mercado Libre.


This partnership provides a vast new market with growth opportunities for independent sellers. Mercado Libre will provide free currency exchange and language translation for BigCommerce sellers, allowing independent site sellers to focus on selling their products and focus on providing customers with a great online shopping experience.


Latin America was one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in the world last year. Mercado Libre, an ecommerce marketplace, is available in 18 Latin American countries and has an active global sales presence in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Mexico. Mercado Libre is expected to account for a quarter of all e-commerce sales in Latin America by the end of 2021.
