The Central Economic Work Conference proposed that "we should accelerate the cultivation of new growth drivers for foreign trade, consolidate the basic market of foreign trade and foreign investment, and expand trade in intermediate goods, service trade, digital trade, and cross-border e-commerce exports." In recent years, cross-border e-commerce, as a new form of foreign trade with the fastest development rate, the greatest potential and the strongest driving role, has shown huge market vitality and growth resilience, and has become a new bright color in the field of foreign trade.
According to customs estimates, in 2023, China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports totaled 2.38 trillion yuan, an increase of 15.6%. Among them, the export was 1.83 trillion yuan, up by 19.6 percent; Imports reached 548.3 billion yuan, up 3.9%. The rapid development of cross-border e-commerce not only meets the diversified and personalized needs of domestic consumers, but also helps China's products reach the world, becoming an important driving force for the development of foreign trade. Cross-border e-commerce, relying on flexible, efficient and resilient supply chains, has injected new impetus into global trade growth.
