Lenton Group, the Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Courier network DPDGroup of France Post, and HNA Cargo Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of HNA Group, have signed a cooperation agreement to launch a regular cargo charter flight between Haikou and Paris all year round. This will be the first regular intercontinental cargo flight opened since the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
HNA's Hainan Airlines B787-900 aircraft will be responsible for the project's passenger-to-cargo charter flights, which will fly between Haikou and Paris twice a week to transport duty-free products and cross-border e-commerce goods. The launch of this scheduled flight will realize the effective connection between Hainan Free Trade Port and important nodes of new international land and sea trade channels such as Guangzhou and Shanghai as well as European cities. DPD says it plans to build on Lenton to seize the opportunity of e-commerce and connect to global markets.
Lenton is an international logistics and transportation company with over 40 years of experience in cross-border freight services. DPDGroup acquired a majority stake in Hong Kong-based Lenton Holdings Group in 2019. Japan Post holds a small stake in Lenton. A decade ago, DPDGroup acquired a 25% stake in Lenton.
