FedEx widens mobile access as customer usage evolves

FedEx has expanded its FedEx Mobile website to 206 countries, in 25 different languages, with more of its customers now accessing shipping information through their mobile phones.

The company said that along with better access to the website optimised for mobile use, it has also expanded its FedEx Mobile app to Apple’s iPad tablet and for handsets using Google’s Android platform.

It said using its smartphone and tablet applications, its customers would find it easier to ship gifts and packages to love ones this Christmas.

Michael Glenn, executive vice president of market development at FedEx, said the way customers were interacting with FedEx was evolving.

He said: “Our customers have asked for more convenient and simple ways to ship fedEx packages and these mobile expansions are the latest in a line of web-based and mobile device solutions from FedEx that enable our customers to stay connected and efficient while on the road, particularly during the busy holiday season.”

FedEx now offers its mobile application for iPad, iPhone and iPOd touch from Apple’s App Store, available in 118 countries and in 11 languages.

Among the features within FedEx Mobile are the FedEx Mobile Shipping Label tool, which means allows customers to create shipping labels complete with barcodes without having a printer when mailing an item from a FedEx Office branch.

The Mobile suite also allows customers to consult shipping rates and transit times, track shipments and schedule a pickup, as well as finding the location of their nearest FedEx drop-box or FedEx Office.
